At Energy Navigator, we’re committed to adding value, continuously improving our products and staying ahead of industry trends and requirements. Value Navigator 5.2 has been released with new features and workflow improvements that will save time and add flexibility for virtually every user, regardless of how you use Value Navigator.
This release offers a variety of new functionality and key enhancements to improve your productivity and provide new insights into your workflows. Value Navigator 5.2 includes:
If you are interested in using Value Navigator 5.2 on your own desktop we recommend you speak with your designated Value Navigator Administrator to find out more about your company's upgrade plan. For more details on any of these features and enhancements please refer to the Value Navigator 5.2 Release Notes available on the client login area of the website.
We wanted to offer customers a new perspective on their existing Value Navigator workflows. While this is not a replacement for your current mapping package, Map View gives you the opportunity to spatially visualize your wells and bubble data without the hassle of having to import/export data into another tool. The convenience of being able to map and/or bubble forecasted and economic data will complement your current Value Navigator workflows.
The shift towards unconventional plays in North America is hard to ignore. In response we have introduced an In Situ tab that addresses SAGD and CSS functionality. These are examples of our continued commitment to unconventional workflows in Value Navigator.
We have added graphs that enable you to view steam injection as water and SOR’s. There are also enhancements to how Value Navigator handles injection. In addition, we have added specific cost types and a new tab to allow you to deal with costs for cogen, upgrader, and power. A number of new custom reports are also available.
3. Major Improvements to Forecasting and Calculator Tab Workflows
Linking between forecasting parameters has been intelligently enhanced to ensure minimal configuration is required when adding a second segment.
Forecasting accuracy has been improved with the ability to start and end your forecast on a specific day. This means when you end at a specific df or rate, the next segment starts on the next day, not the closest month.
Value Navigator 5.2 gives you the option to retain either the segment volume or the total volume for a production forecast. When production is updated, the total volume will be honored, unless the total production before the forecast date is more than the total volume. Total volume can be specified for all segments, or just for the last one.
A Max Rate field has been added to the Calculator tab in order to speed your workflow. View and edit Max Rate for any product in the Calculator tab rather than returning to the Summary tab.
Efficiency of reserves management has improved with the ability to apply changes to the start date of a forecast to all reserves categories.
In an effort to provide the flexibility needed for the most accurate royalty calculations, Group On-Time Calculations have been added in Value Navigator 5.2. On-time is now calculated Average ~ total hours / well count. Those groups with high down-time wells will be most affected.
4. Custom Reports - Economic Input
Custom Reports have been enhanced with the addition of economic inputs. Create more comprehensive reports with numerous additions including cost, price and interest inputs plus unrisked gross capital cost output.
5. Change Records on Working Interest
Value Navigator 5.2 offers greater flexibility to track and balance reserves changes. Change records can be created on WI in addition to Company Share (WI + RI) or Net (WI+RI – royalty payable). Change records store data for all three change categories and all reports have been configured to accommodate the various categories.
6. Parent Change Record Categories
Parent change record categories have been added to allow for increased data binning capability when managing change records. This enhancement provides logical groupings that can be used in high level reporting.
7. Custom Field Drop Down Menus
Value Navigator Administrators can now create custom drop down menus for any text field. This feature will ensure data consistency and improve filtering and sorting your data.
8. Apply Your Filter to the List of Groups in the Manage Groups/Rollups Dialog
Adding wells to groups in large databases is now easier. The Manage Groups and Rollups dialog will filter to the list of groups so you can add wells directly.
9. Overhead % on Operating Expenses and Capital Expenses
You can now apply overhead percentages to capital and operating costs. Overhead is set at the project level, but it can be overridden in the individual cases. If you override the project level overhead on any entity you can copy this to other entities with the economic input copier.
The new Price Calculator is an easy way to build a price file for jurisdictions without a need for royalty pricing, such as the US and international markets. Use the Price Calculator when building stream prices to input start and end prices plus increases, much like a decline calculator.
Value Navigator 5.2 gives you the ability to run standalone/book tax at various folder levels – not just at the company level. You can also run standalone taxes at the entity level.
New trigger points for the Alberta royalties are in Value Navigator 5.2. Three new production categories will accommodate the new royalties, including wells with Transition Royalties.
All wells are now eligible for the NWRR. We have changed the time limit to producing months. Also, any well on production after 2009 automatically gets a 12 month 50 mboe incentive. For this incentive only, you will be able to enter just the eligible volume and time period; Value Navigator will automatically check the date and total production.
While deep incentives have changed how the incentive dollar value is calculated, the behavior in Value Navigator has not changed.
